Off Season Activity

Prospect Tourney Team
It has been a rather eventful off season for the Transcona Railers so far. With a great turnout of both players and fans, the Railers competed in the Pembina Valley Twisters prospects tournament at the end of May. There were some surprises with the on ice product as some players performed far better than expected. At the end of the tournament, new Head Coach Terry Cyr and the team executive walked away pleased and excited about the future of the Railers program. Myles Nykoluk led the team offensively in the tournament and show some great imagination with the puck. On the back end, Dillon Hockin showed that he has no problem getting involved physically and should be a mainstay on the Railers blueline for the next four years.
Just prior to the tournament, the Railers made a rather big deal with the St.Boniface Riels, sending 21 year old forward Tristan Nohlgren and 21 year old veteran defenseman Corey Waver to the Riels for two rookies. Coming back to the Railers were 18 year old forward Tyler Fehr who brings speed and a great work ethic to the team and 18 year old defenseman Dillon Hockin who will bring a big body presence to the Railers back end. The Railers felt they couldn’t go into a rebuilding season with seven 21 year olds on the roster which is what they potentially had returning, and this is probably not the last move the team will make this offseason.
The Railers continued to finalized their coaching staff adding Marc Babaluk as one of Terry Cyr’s new assistants. Marc was an assistant coach with the St.Boniface Riels for the past two seasons and shows a great passion for the game as well as being very knowledgeable about systems and special teams play.
